How to Get Recruited For College Basketball
Be recruited to play college basketball:
- Start early
- Good academics
- Record your game
- Sell Yourself
Start Early
Be in the radar early for the coaches you want play for. Plant a seed so by the time you are an upperclassman they will know who you are. Visit your future college’s website and athletic page. Check out the roster, coaches, and school requirements. Send an email to the coach and introduce yourself.
Good Academics
Work on your academics as hard as you work on your basketball skills. Having a great report card helps with scholarships and getting recruited.
Record Your Game
Coaches won’t scount any random player, have a great video that will impress them. Ask a friend or family member to record your highschool, exhibition, and AAU games. Send coaches full game footage and highlights.
Sell Yourself
Start a relationship with the coach you want to play for. Set up a time to visit in campus and meet face to face. How well you communicate will determine your recruitment. Invite the coach to your games. Stand out by showing them you fit to play in his or her system.
