How to Get Better at Basketball (6 Steps)
What does it mean to be a successful basketball player to you? Is it playing varsity in high school? College basketball or NBA?
If you want to learn how to get better at basketball and play at the highest level, this 6 step guide is for you.
1. Stay True to Yourself
Know your strengths and weaknesses. Great athletes are known for a few great things at what they do. For example, Stephen Curry a great 3point shooter and LeBron James a once in a generation type athlete with multiple rings and brought his hometown team’s first NBA championship.
2. Work Hard
Your work ethic will determine the potential of your talents. You often see the greatest athletes working hard a lot. There’s no lie in “Hard work pays off” but make sure you work smart as well. Instead of going 8 hours straight, you can do intervals with two to three sessions every workout.
“I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.” – Bruce Lee. When working on shooting, try to find your best shooting spots, when working on your handles try perfecting your best moves.
4. Improve & Develop
Once you reach your goals, it doesn’t stop there. When you work hard and smart and maximize every opportunity you get, you will succeed. Always improve because your opportunities will never stop coming to you. You will grow when you develop the talents God blessed you with.
5. Stay Healthy
When you eat healthy, you feel good. When you feel good, you do good. Always hydrate for the best performance – our bodies are made of 60% water. Prevent injuries and soreness with rest and stretching.
God is victory. By winning you feel the glory of succeeding. In basketball, there is a winner and a loser. Have the mindset of taking your losses as a learning experience. Always give glory to God. “Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” Ephesians 6:10
